Practice

Ka whāngaia, ka tipu, ka puāwai. As you nurture new ideas, approaches and skills, they will grow, then flourish.

Supporting rainbow people into safe, secure and stable housing might require you or your organisation to do things differently. Stay open to trying new approaches, and you can build on these over time.

The more you can develop better ways of working with takatāpui and rainbow people, the better you can ensure that they have safe and affirming experiences when they access housing services.

This section includes tools and tips for improving how housing services work with takatāpui and rainbow people - how you can develop relationships, get decision makers to agree, update policies, provide staff training, communicate your services to rainbow clients, and advocate for change. Each page includes some reflection questions to help you consider how you could try these tools in your context.
